BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
It all started at Warner Bros. Records, I made my way from Intern in Sales, to Urban Marketing Assistant, then made my way downstairs to be the Assistant in AAA promotion, jumped down the hall to be the Rock and Alt Promo Assistant and then Beata found me and took me to Jive to be their West Coast Promo Assistant, eventually became coordinator. Four years later Dan Posner and Gary Gorman brought me on to be the South West Regional for Atlantic. In 2019, I became the #2 behind John “Horse” McMann as Rhythm National at Atlantic. A dream come true for me.
1.What got you into the music business?
Once I got a taste of this business as an intern there was no turning back. Music has always been a guiding force for me, it’s always there when you need it… to dance it out, cry it out, or scream it out. In a strange way music was like my first form of therapy, it can make you really dive deep into emotions or pull your ass out of a dark space when you need to change perspective.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
If you ask my mom, she will probably say an actress or something like that, but when I was in high school I thought I would be either a hair stylist or a music video director/producer, but if I am keeping it all the way real, I simply dreamt of being able to take care of myself and stand on my own two feet.
3. What was the biggest change in the move from Ohio to Southern California?
The weather! But no, really, I have always bounced back and forth between my mom’s side on the eastern side of the country and my dad’s side on the West Coast so I was pretty well adapted once I came to CSUSB for college.
4. Who were some of your mentors in the business?
I have def had some good ones… Heather Luke, Jennifer Liss, Beata Murphy, Wendy Goodman, Dan Posner, Ko-Fung Shih, Lori Giamela to just name a few.
5. If you were not in music/entertainment, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I think I would probably have gone deep into cosmetology or real estate. Those are still two things I am passionate about and just kind of have a natural knack for. I also think I could slay in event planning, but I have done my fair share of that coming up through the ranks in promotion.
6. Learn anything about yourself during the pandemic?
That I am truly a lover of nature and the outdoors. Getting back to the basics to do a legit reset helps more than just powering through.
7. Snacking seemed to be a Covid-19, Work From Home sport. What's your “go to” snack food?
The baby cheddar Goldfish and a bowl of strawberries!
8. Biggest thrills as a promotion executive?
The biggest thrill is watching artists grow. Being able to witness the in between from 10 person lounges to 100k seat stadiums and knowing that you helped move that needle is super special.
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
I would love to do a family gameshow like Family Feud, I think it would be hilarious. I come from a long line of funny ass people, perfect for TV.
10. Bucket-list vacation spots?
I am planning for a 2022 Japan trip so that is at the very top of the list!
Bonus Questions
What did the pandemic bring that you’d like to see continue as we pull out of lockdown, etc?
Keeping consistent with working out, journaling, and meditation. Being on the road can be an easy excuse to not take care of yourself physically and mentally, but my goal is to always make that a top priority no matter what.
Your “go to” TV streaming service?
I am a sucker for HBO and Starz. I love 90’s sitcoms so when HBO got Friends and The Fresh Prince it was game over!!! I also recently starting watching Run The World and P Valley on Starz which give you all the entertainment you could possibly need.
