1. What got you into radio?
The excitement and bigger than life attitude that radio broadcasting brought to the airwaves.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I knew I wanted to do this since I was 7.
3. Through the pandemic, what do you think you learned about yourself?
How versatile you have to be in this industry to survive, unless you are Stern, Seacrest, or other top name talent. You better know how to do it all and have the desire to do it. All companies are in the same shape, no matter the market. Budgets are getting tighter, and your support staff is shrinking. It's not always better in a bigger market. NYC/LA face the same challenges as Reno, Fargo, and Atlantic City.
4. How has "leadership" changed over the last couple of years?
It is constantly changing and so is the way of thinking.
5. What keeps you thinking and feeling young?
Coming to work every day and giving it your all. If, you are looking at the clock while at the station counting down 'til when you can go home you will not last long in your current gig. I blink and my day is over. I do a morning show, I am the PD of two contemporary stations, the OM of a cluster of (9), heavy production, promotions, and even sales.
6. You're given a new fulltime position in your budget. What position would you use it for?
Utility...someone that knows all areas of the station and not just in programming. That person may know Marketron, be able to be a sales assistant, website/social media, whatever.
7. What would probably surprise most people about living and working in "The Biggest Little City in the World", Reno.
That I am not a skier or boarder at Tahoe. I love going there but enjoying watching other people fall down the side of a mountain.
8. Best meal in Reno?
Reno is the home of all you can eat sushi. It’s everywhere and every location is the same! Even though we are three hours from the coast, it is good sushi!
9. If you hadn't gotten into radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I would have gone to Med school and worked somewhere in that community. I always want to help and help others.
10. Got any hobbies? Pick up any new hobbies during the pandemic?
Yes, smoking meat in my smoker. I make some mean jerky.
Bonus Questions
If you had to eat one type of meal every day for a month, what would it be?
