1. What got you into radio?
Thinkin' back as a kid I remember listening to Bartel Bartel at 102 Jamz in Orlando. My older brother had a boom box, I remember talking into the speaker thinking Bartel could hear me! He was THAT good! When I went to college, I was an English Major and realized halfway through my first semester that I didn't want to be a K-12 teacher. A convo with a classmate who was on the school's radio station told me "You love music and you're the life of the party! You already DJ! Come join the school station and change your major!" Linked with the radio station and did an air shift.... fell in love 10 minutes in.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I was a typical kid. You name it Firefighter, Pro Wrestler, TV host I wanted to do it!
3. Did the pandemic add any issues to the move for you?
Not really, I planned a lot and way ahead and that helped both me and the company.
4. Develop any new interests or hobbies since arriving in Columbus?
Yeah! I catch myself cooking A LOT! I'm that guy who will hit a sports pub or a restaurant quick but lately I've been cheffing it up!
5. What have you been surprised by in Columbus?
People still go out and about in the Winter here! LMAO!
6. Who are/were some of your radio mentors?
There are so many people I've learned from. Many I still call or text for advice to this day! Glenn Horatio Walker, Larry Steele, Kevin Gardner, Stevie Demann of course! Just chatted with Jill Strada this week. I work in the same company as Derrick Baker again. I also work alongside Jay Dixon. Pio Ferro is super smart. Colby Colb is my SVP now and he's a book of knowledge too!
7. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I've done some TV stuff while in Orlando and I loved it! It would definitely be something in television on the entertainment or attractions side. OR probably a Firefighter. LOL! All that playing with fire as a kid would be put to use.
8. Even if you were Bezos-rich, what cheap grocery store food would you continue to buy on the regular?
It wouldn't be the grocery store...I'd go to the hood and hit one of the ol' head's BBQ truck set up on the corner by the church or stop by the lil hood bar for a plate. LOL
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
Mannnn! So I'm a millenial who grew up watching Nickelodeon. I've always dreamed of being on Legends of the Hidden Temple, GUTS and Double Dare or just take me back to the Nine Nine and the Two thousand! Seriously, REAL reality TV! The Real World Hawaii with Ruthie and Teck's cast OR the Back to New York Season with the Miz. Reality TV was so fun to watch back then. I maybe even wanna be on I love New York just to laugh cause I love to do that! (Laughs hysterically)
10. You're still very young but have you started a travel bucket list? What destinations jump out at you?
I HAVE! The list is long but just to name a few, I would love to visit Tahiti, France, Samoa, Japan and THE MOTHERLAND... AFRICA! There's just so much I want to visit in Africa. Zanzibar, Tanzania, Luxor, Egypt to pay a visit to the Sphinx and Pyramids...just so much.
