Have an opinion? Add your comment below. What's changed the most about being an air personality from when you started to now?
The biggest change for me personally is my confidence and how I present myself on air. I'm not so worried about what to talk about or how to present things. I just say what's on my mind and have fun with it.-
BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started my radio journey at the age of 16. (let's not mention my age now...lol) in my hometown of a Palm Springs. After discovering an internship program at my high school, I was given the opportunity to start working weekends when I turn 16. Talk about dream job for a teenager! At first, I was under the impression that I needed to leave Palm Springs to grow but after many years doing what I love (still in my hometown,) I realized that was not the case. Not only have I grown may show locally but nationally. I am currently syndicated across the country and I'm proud to say that I've done it all on my own. No producer no team just a one woman show cutting over seven shows each day.
1. What got you into radio? I've always loved music since I was a young girl. It's been such a big part of my life, but since ya girl can't sing, I chose a different route. I remember having a DJ come to my school from the local radio station and I thought they have the coolest job! After that, I started it to call them and become a guess a DJ on the nightly countdown that was my first brush for the radio. After that I was hooked.
2. What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
As a kid, I wanted to be a Spice Girl and let's just say that's not a dream of the past...lol
3. What's changed the most about being an air personality from when you started to now?
The biggest change for me personally is my confidence and how I present myself on air. I'm not so worried about what to talk about or how to present things I just say what's on my mind and have fun with it.
4. You're strolling along a Southern California beach and find a magic lamp. Instinctively, you rub it, and a genie pops out to grant you three wishes. They can only be material objects (cars, house, etc) and can't exceed $1 million. (Cheap ass genie). What would you wish for?
-I would buy a beautiful home that was big enough for me and my family to live together. Or maybe a couple houses next to each other.
-I would book the most awesome year long vacation where I traveled the world.
-With my last measly million I would buy some stocks and invest so that I can continue to make money off it.
5. What would probably surprise most people about living and working in Palm Springs? It's not "Coachella" every day, is it?
Palm Springs has definitely grown over the years, but it's always been a popular spot. It was actually the "go to" location for old Hollywood and let's not talk about the crazy hippie era.
6. If you weren't in radio, what do you think you'd be doing professionally?
I still feel like I would be doing something in the music industry or social media, and brand building. I do have a passion for social media and creating content. I just started working with Locale magazine to produce content for them.
7. Got any hobbies?
Getting dressed up and taking photos. Does that count?
8. Aren't you voice tracking on several stations now?
I am currently voice tracking for six other radio stations. I also do voice work with Benztown.
9. If you could be on any TV reality show or game show, which would you want to be on?
The Kardashians!
10. Who were/are some of your mentors?
I've always looked up to Liz Hernandez, who was previously a large party of Big Boys Neighborhood and is now on 94.7 The Wave. I respect the way she carries herself and how she's built her own brand while staying true to herself.
And I can't forget to mention my very first mentor, which is my grandmother, who raised me and my sister. She not only worked her you know what off, but she helped nurture my passion for radio.
Bonus Questions
