BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started radio 21 years ago at the age of 14 in my hometown. I've worked Tejano, Jammin' Oldies, Country, Pop en Espanol, Mexican Regional, and Hip Hop formats.
1. What was your last non-Industry job?
I was 14 and worked at Whataburger.
2. Why Radio?
In Radio, you can be challenged everyday. This is really not work, it's an adventure. If you work hard and stay, focused there is nothing in radio you can't do.
3. What's the first thing you do when you walk into your office in the morning?
Get a cup of coffee and look at MediaBase.
4. Austin is a great music city. How is the local hip hop scene?
Yes, Austin is a great music city. The local hip hop scene is growing everyday. At the Beat, we try to support our local artists as much as we can.
5. Where do you see yourself in five years?
My goal has always been programming in L. A. Hopefully, within 5 years I can be there doing what I love RADIO!!!
6. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
All the PD's, OM's and Consultants that took me under there wing and taught me how to fly I owe them my career
7. What was the key in KXBT's decision to air Big Boy's Neighborhood?
He has one of the most recognized morning shows in the Hip Hop world. While my competitor is giving away the latest CD from an artist, Big Boy is actually interviewing that person on my station. That's priceless.
8. Highlight of your senior prom?
I wasn't there. I started radio at 14 years old and never looked back.
9. You are driving across country. Each night in your hotel room you have to watch the same two TV shows (different episodes each night). What two shows would they be?
Sanford & Son and M*A*S*H*
10. A freak gravitational shift has added three hours to everyday. What would you do with those extra three hours?
For sure I'd add another street hit in our hot zips...more prizes and hour music sweeps.
