NAME:'Eric Sean' CasucciPOSITION:PDSTATION:KPWT Power 106.7MARKET:San Antonio, TXCOMPANY:Cox RadioBORN:Poughkeepsie, NYRAISED:Modesto, CA
BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
Started radio in Stockton at KUOP (college radio), went to Stockton Ca. (KWIN-KWNN), Then KHTN/Modesto-Merced, KBOS/Fresno, KWYL/Reno, KWWV/San Luis Obispo, KDAY/Los Angeles, KPAT/Santa Maria, CA, KISV-KEBT/Bakersfield. I now live in San Antonio, TX and program KPWT (Power 106.7. You can tune in online at www.power1067fm.com. In between my different stations I was on tour (Tour Host) with E-40 on The Ballatician Tour in 2002.
1. What got you into radio?
I actually was an artist, my DJ, Jaz brought me in for an interview and the host "E-Man" liked the response and invited me back to guest host for the next few weeks. Rest is HISTORY!
2. You're a California boy...how has the adjustment to living in Texas gone?
Actually, it is VERY refreshing! If you look at my resume, I've had my share of moves. I like to move around, and learn from different people. You have to learn to adapt in these circumstances. It really has matured me, and made me the person I am today.
3. Personally, what's been the best part of living in San Antonio?
Having access to 2nd row tickets to the Spurs.
4. Professionally, what's been the best part of working in San Antonio?
Not to suck up to the new company, but I REALLY feel good about this move. I get to deal with a team (Jeremy Rice, Steve Smith), I feel like at all my other stations, when your doing well, you're a star, one bad book or trend, your standing by the fax machine by yourself and ALL eyes are on you and you only. Here we all win, if we have a bad book or trend, we as a TEAM can say, "What can WE do to fix it."
5. Big Boy's Neighborhood kicks off the day at Power 106.7...tell us about the rest of your airstaff?
Well with Big Boy what else can I say? He is amazing! This last trend he beat our competition in ALL demos. J Deezy handles middays, Chi Chi takes over the afternoon airwaves, and Tino Cochino is a superstar at night. I voice track overnights.
6. Like most in Radio, your programming career has seen its ups and downs. What motivates you during the "downs"?
I really believe in karma, when things get bad, I just keep faith. I definitely had downs in my career, and feel this is my right opportunity. Think about it man, some people are homeless, get sent to war and lose limbs. Life just needs to be appreciated.
7. If someone were coming from Cali to visit you in San Antonio, what would you like them to bring you from California that may not be easy to find in San Antonio?
Please bring me tacos! Texas, does Tex-Mex. I still am on the search for hole-in-the- walls spots.
8. You get to be on a TV reality show...which reality show would you like to be on?
HA! My night guy and I actually want to start bringing a camera around. We always say our lives would be perfect for a reality show. What people think radio guy's lives are like is just not reality.
9. What has been the most significant change in day-to-day programming since you started as a PD? Time......
Time...I get here at 9:00 and sometimes, by the time I look at the clock, its already 10 at night.
10. If you were to leave Radio and music today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
I like to cook...Maybe I can learn to be like Emeril.
Bonus Questions
I'm developing a new TV series, Dancing With The Record And Radio Stars. If Michael Williams and Dontay Thompson from J Records made it to the finals, who do you think would win?
Well Dontay and I worked together in Stockton at KWIN, and we hosted many clubs together, I've seen his dancing and it is "BAD" No rhythm at all! I am going to have to say Michael would win.
