1. What was your last non-Industry job?
I was a sales person for Sears in the electronics department. "Would you like to put that on your Sears card?"
2. What got you interested in Radio?
I have always loved music but a family member was a club DJ and he let me hang out with him spinning at the clubs. He also was on a small radio station and one night he put me on air and I was hooked.
3. Has anything surprised you about living and working in Huntsville?
No, not really. Growing up in Alabama I already had an idea about the lifestyle of the market and the people in the market.
4. What actor would you want to play "Shady" in a movie or TV show about your life?
That's easy...Al Pacino. No matter how old he gets he is still cool, calm and collected.
5. Do you have interest in becoming a PD or MD?
Actually I have been a PD once before in Dothan at WLDA. The format, at the time, was Top 40 and it was me and the PD. He left so I was PD by proxy. It was a great time. I had to work hard but it paid off when the numbers came out.
6. What's the first thing you do when you get to the station?
I go to the production room and get to work on cutting spots our sales department. It keeps me moving ;)
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
My good friend Mickey Johnson, who is my Dir./Programming here in Huntsville. Mary K., Program Director of WBHJ (95.7 JAMZ)/Birmingham. I have really learned a lot from both of them in my time at JAMZ and here at Hot103.5
8. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Spare time? What's that? When I'm not at work...I'm in school at UAB via the internet. I If I had spare time I would still be at the radio station.
9. What area of your "game" do you want to improve?
I really want to improve on my programming skills so I could get back to that PD chair and maybe on to an OM chair.
This is what I do so I have to give it my all. Failure is not an option.
10. If you were to leave Radio today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
Well I can't really see myself leaving radio but I would say I would get my law degree and practice criminal law.
Bonus Questions
What's your dream market?
Wow, now that is a tough one because there are so many great markets. I'd love to work at any station in either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
