1. What was your last non-radio gig?
Wow, that was a long time ago. It was my first and last non-radio gig. I worked at a roller skating rink.
2. Why radio?
I love music and I love entertaining people and ever since I was a kid I would listen to the radio and pretend to be one of the jocks. It has always been a dream now, I'm living it!
3. Think back...what stands out the most about your first few days at WOCQ?
Well, I started off interning so the first day I was scared to death. Then I realized everyone was just like me. The funny thing is I used to get things done around the building but I would do them in my roller blades.
4. You've been PD at WOCQ for nearly a year. How has your work day changed since becoming PD?
It has been a learning experience and I love it! I'm more involved with promotions, and imaging and just making sure everything runs smoothly day to day.
5. What secret about Dee-Lite will surprise even those that know you well?
There really aren't any secrets with me. What you see is who I am. I am a pretty open person and nothing really surprises anyone... I'm fun!
6. Tell us about your staff at WOCQ...what's the line-up?
My staff is just the best staff ever. We all work together really hard to make the station what it is. I could not do it without them and we are all really a big family.
6-10am: The Hip Hop Coffee Shop with Bill Baker "The RumpShaker", Jessica , and Crookidd
10a-3pm: Chubb Love
3-7pm: Dee-Lite
7pm-midnight: PootI cannot forget my parttimers that help out tremendously... Unique, J-Blaze, and Tenacious
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
I have been in the business now for 11 years and have met a ton of radio people. I have taken things from each one of them, including my staff. You learn something new everyday and you can never stop learning.
8. If you could appear as a contestant on the TV reality show of your choosing, which would it be?
I'd love to be on Amazing Race just because I have never really traveled that far. Plus they do some crazy stunts and you know I am not scared to do any of them. Also, Big Brother because I'm pretty laid back and I think I could handle all those crazy people in that house. It would be interesting to be cut off from the rest of the world for a period of time not knowing what is going on in the news.
9. What excites you everyday when you come in to work?
I get excited the minute I step into the building until I leave. I love talking to my staff about their day, talking to reps about music, talking to listeners. The whole thing excites me. You cannot ask for a better job.
10. Ocean City is a beach resort community. How does it affect the summer months for the station?
The summer months are our busiest time of the year and we love it. We are always out and about on the streets of Delmarva. I believe Ocean City is the 2nd largest city in Maryland in the summer time so we are definitely running around like crazy. At the beach, the clubs, wherever we are...we hold it down and do what we do best!
Bonus Questions
Are you still jumping out of airplanes?
I have not jumped in awhile because I have been so busy with the station but I really do miss it!!! Hopefully I will find some time to get back into jumping again!
What song, in rotation now, always seems to make you want to smile when you hear it on the station?
It's got to be Hot Stylz "Lookin' Boy". That song just cracks me up
