NAME:Short-EPOSITION:MD/afternoonsSTATION:KBMB 103.5 The BombMARKET:Sacramento, CACOMPANY:EntravisionBORN:San Francisco, CARAISED:San Francisco, CA
BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started interning on the street team and worked my way up to on air on the weekends at 106 KMEL over the span of nine years. Then I moved to Sacramento to do afternoons, and got offered the MD position by KBMB PD Pattie Moreno. I've been here for the past three years.
1. What got you into radio?
I was an only child, so when I use to be a kid playing in my room the radio was my only friend. I grew up when Hip Hop was coming up in the 90s and I always knew that's what I wanted to be a part of.
2. What do you remember about your first impressions of a radio station?
I thought that you would be in a room full of cd's or vinyl and actually pressed play on a board or a turntable. It quickly transformed to touch screens when I got into it.
3. What's the first MD-related thing you do when you come into the KBMB offices in the morning?
The internet is a must, so I check all my music Web sites to see if there is anything new.
4. It's the norm for everyone at a station to wear a few hats. You're the MD...what other hats, official or unofficial, do you wear?
Anytime my program director isn't around I would say I step into her role as the acting leader of the crew. I also feel that I serve as the mentor for the new kids coming up in the game and giving them advice when they ask for it.
5. What do you like to do to relax away from work?
I like going out on the boat in Lake Tahoe. There's something very peaceful about that. Visiting my family is always good, and a movie or a sporting event is fun for me, too.
6. A freak gravitational shift has added three hours to everyday. What would you do with those extra three hours?
I would cook all three of my meals on a daily and spend more time in the gym.
7. What do you think...are you a music guy first or an air personality?
Musica
8. Who do you consider your mentor(s)?
Pattie Moreno, my Program Director. When I was coming up in the game...the hall of fame from 106 KMEL: Rick Chase, Sway, Chuy Gomez, Rosary, Trace and Franzen.
9. What would you say is the highlight of your work day at KBMB?
Anytime we make changes in music. It's sort of like sorting a jigsaw puzzle but I find it exciting every time.
10. What is your favorite song that you're not playing at KBMB?
Kenna "Say Goodbye to Love" produced by The Neptunes
Bonus Questions
If you were getting married next weekend and you could have any artist, or group, perform a special song for the first dance at your wedding reception, who would you chose?
