2. Why Radio?
I never thought I would be in radio. Short story, I had just graduated from high school and a friend of mine was an intern at WFBC and told me that he got tickets to see N'SYNC and I knew that my ex-girlfriend was a huge fan. I thought if was an intern I could get tickets and win her back. I got the tickets, not the girlfriend, was bit by the radio bug and stuck with it ever since. Not the best way to get your foot in the door but things happen for a reason right?
3. If you weren't in Radio, what do you think you'd be doing with your life?
I'm not sure I could imagine myself not being in radio but I'd probably go back to the restaurant industry or go back to school to become a cop...Donut anybody?
4. What's the best aspect of living and working in LAKE CHARLES?
Living here is great because it's a small town with a big city feel. The people are nice and we are an hour and a half from HOUSTON and three hours from NEW ORLEANS..I love road trips! Working in LAKE CHARLES is probably the best thing that has happened to me so far in my radio career because in a small market like LAKE CHARLES, you have to wear many different hats, take on a lot more responsibilities, and put on kick ass promotions with a small budget. Plus, I'm surrounded by a team of great people that treats you like family.
5. What about LAKE CHARLES would probably surprise most people?
That it's a beautiful area! Most people think that we are a hick town with dirt roads and alligators crossings but actually, LAKE CHARLES is one of the most beautiful areas I've ever been. Believe it or not but we do have a Wal-Mart.
6. What surprised you most when you took over the PD chair at the station?
How much work there is! I know now why my old PDs were so busy.
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
Nikki Nite! She is by far one of the best PDs in the business and I am blessed to have worked with her at WFBC. KOBE, SOME GUY NAMED TIAS, KATO KELLER, and WALLY B...I look up to these guys because they are successful in what they do and I had the pleasure to learn underneath them!
8. You're trapped on a desert island for two years with one CD, one DVD and video game. What would they be?
CD: Jason Mraz "Live at the Eagles Ballroom"
DVD: Napoleon Dynamite
Video game: EA's Tiger Woods golf...that game will never get old!9. What's your dream radio market?
ATLANTA! (955 THE BEAT would be my dream station)
10. If you had to exist on one type of food for 6 months, what would it be?
Since I'm down here in BOBBY BOUCHER-land I've been hooked on Cajun food. I'm not sure if my body could handle 6 months of Cajun food but that's what I would go for.
Bonus Questions
Bonus. Not that a PD has much spare time but what do you like to do with yours?
Spare time=blessing from GOD!! I like to relax, spend time with my girlfriend and my puppy...and watch everything NASCAR.
