KLUC/Las Vegas -Mornings on Chet Buchanan and the Morning Zoo1. What was your last non-Industry job?
Geez I have been working since I was 13. If I'm not counting radio then my last job (but still in Entertainment) would be my days at Nickelodeon. I'm a former child star minus the being a star part.
2. Why Radio?
Why not radio? I love it. I get to make people laugh everyday (or try to). Well that and I have no other skills or talents.
3. You left a PD gig to take on your first spot in a morning show. How was the transition?
There were so many things I needed and still need to learn. I'm lucky to be working for the best here in VEGAS. Not being in charge did introduce me to a life without headaches.
4. You work with morning show veterans CHET BUCHANAN and SPENCE in THE ZOO. That had to help the move from programming to the morning show?
Totally!!! I knew NOTHING and mean NOTHING about doing mornings. You always think, "Ya I would KILL doing mornings" but then you get in the seat and you realize that it actually takes talent. I know....crazy huh?!?!?
5. CHET BUCHANAN AND THE KLUC MORNING ZOO is a fixture in LAS VEGAS. What do you think is the most important thing you bring to the ZOO?
Boobs
6. You've had the chance to do TV work in LAS VEGAS. What exactly were you doing? Would you like to do more?
I co-hosted "Idol Chatter" for two months with Jason Feinberg (KVVU Fox 5) and done a few little pieces for them the past few months. I LOVE it. Our listeners love it. We are talking about getting myself along with the entire show more involved with the TV side. It's a great relationship. I also have a few other TV things in the works. You might be seeing a lot more of me and soooooon!!!
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
I have been lucky to have worked for and with some of the best minds in the business. MICHAEL MARTIN, MICHAEL NEWMAN and DON CRISTI were a HUGE part of molding my programming mind. Now I get to work with some of the most talented and baddest bitches here in Vegas. My boss CAT THOMAS and APD/Afternoon super stud JB KING are amazing. Again, I'm a lucky girl.
8. Ever miss being in the PD chair?
I would be a big fat liar if I said no. I LOVE that side of the business. I have the mind for it. I miss listening to new music. My boss CAT THOMAS calls me into music meetings so I still get a little taste of it.
9. Speaking of the PD chair. You work for one of the sharpest in the business in CAT THOMAS. What has gotten you your worst spanking from CAT?
Worst spanking? Me in trouble? Ok I can think of one. Last year while on Party Cruise the only rule while in MEXICO was DON'T WALK OFF ALONE while at PAPAS AND BEER and what did I do.....drank too much, got mad at a boy and walked off alone. CAT then turned into my Dad. He's the best!
10. I know the phrase, "What happens in VEGAS...stays in VEGAS". You are a VEGAS resident so the same rule doesn't apply to you. Have you topped the midget male strippers from your friend's bachelorette party yet?
Oh god YES. We do "Lauren's Girl's Night Out" and it get's crazy. 3 words: POLE DANCING CLASS. And NO the "what happens in Vegas rule" doesn't apply. You can see the pictures on my MYSPACE page www.myspace.com/laurenmichaels
Bonus Questions
BONUS. What celebrity are you crushing on hard right now?
Posh and Becks. I would LOVE to be in a Posh/Becks sandwich.
BONUS . You get the chance to have a multitude of celebs in the KLUC studios. It's not just artists but actors and what not. Who has been your favorite ZOO visitor?
I have 2 love affairs. BOW WOW is such a cutie and shows me so much love. And then there is my future ex husband WAYNE BRADY who has a show in VEGAS so he's now a local boy. He's a listener and I'm his stalker.
BONUS. What's the biggest difference between visiting LAS VEGAS and living in LAS VEGAS?
We don't eat at buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
