Worked for Hastings Books, Music, & Video doing retail but that lasted only three months. Also ran the world famous Himalaya at Wonderland Park as the ride's DJ! "Who wants to go FASTER!"
2. What got you interested in Radio?
It had to be the hot girls and…oh wait, my mom will read this. Well it had to be the money…WAIT, my wife will read this! I loved listening to Power 104 KRBE and the old 93Q in Houston. When I moved to Amarillo I starting calling the night jock at KAKS and he would let me intro records and that really got me going!
3. If you weren't in Radio, what do you think you'd be doing with your life?
1 of 2 things…Either getting my degree and becoming a meteorologist. I truly love storms and severe weather. Or running my own home theater install business. I'm an electronics geek and love HDTV technology, XBOX 360, and home networking. I recently wired up my new home with all that crap. Can't wait to get my HD Radio!
4. What's the highlight of your radio career to date?
My highlight would have to be helping take this underdog radio station at only 6000 watts and making it a market leader. No one gave us a chance to be #1 and they were all WRONG. Big props to PD RONNIE RAMIREZ, OM CHRIS BAKER, consultant JERRY CLIFTON and the entire WILD staff.
5. What about OKLAHOMA CITY would probably surprise most people?
Well, Charles Barkley recently dogged out OKC on TNT saying Oklahoma is nothing but barren wasteland and everyone has chickens and cows! He was talking about us having a full time NBA franchise and the Hornets being here. He's wrong. This city is growing, the economy here is good and the people are really friendly. Also many people don't know that OKC is one of the largest cities in the US in area.
6. Where do you see yourself in five years?
Being a PD either here at WILD or in another competitive market.
7. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
I've learned so much from so many great people like my OM CHRIS BAKER, GM LARRY BASTIDA, JERRY CLIFTON, and ERIC STEVENS. I really look up to ROB MORRIS and TOMMY AUSTIN as they've had success being programmers. Also CHARLES CHAVEZ. He was great in radio, records and now in business at LATIUM RECORDS.
8. You're trapped on a desert island for two years with an actress, a singer and an ESPN reporter. Who would they be?
ELISHA CUTHBERT from the best show on TV, 24…MARIAH CAREY, love her BOOTY and CHRIS BERMAN because I'm gonna need some laughs!
9. You are giving three market choices for your next gig. LA, DALLAS or HOUSTON…which would it be?
Houston, just because I already know my way around!
10. If you had to exist on one type of food for 6 months, what would it be?
Steak topped with mushrooms and lobster tail…Yummy in my tummy!
Bonus Questions
Which new artist do you think we'll still be playing 10 years from now?
I think we'll still be hearing from Ne-Yo. He's got that sound that can cross all formats.
A freak gravitational shift has added three hours to everyday. What would you do with those extra three hours?
Take an hour and a half to spend with my family, and the other hour and a half to work out…I gotta get in shape again…Hey pass me that donut!
