BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I came to Atlanta on a fake job offer and went to WHTA and got a internship with Marsha Meadows (aka M&M). I worked with Jazze Pha on Saturday nights from 6 -10p and I worked as a Tour DJ for Ciara, Jagged Edge, Game, West was one tour. Then I moved to 10pm-2am with E4Real and now I'm at the great 95-5 The Beat doing nights.
1. What was your last non-Industry job?
I worked at Planet Hollywood as a waitress and it was horrible! I was parttime on air so to make money I was at Planet Hollywood. I remember JD (Jermaine Dupri) was having a DJ party and I was working and trying to hide because I didn't want anyone to see me in the uniform. My last day there, I got into it with the cook because I told on him for blowing his nose in his apron. He didn't wash his hands and kept cooking! He threw food at my head as I walked out the door. Luckily, he missed.
2. What got you interested in Radio?
I feel in love with radio and DJ'ing in college. I haven't wanted to do anything since. I loved the feel of a crowd having a great time just by me putting on a record at the right time, making people forget their troubles
3. You're not in Kansas anymore. Did you always know that there was something different out there for you?
Hell no...I thought I was going into law enforcement. LOL...I'm so far from that now. I have always acted crazy and I've had plenty of Jessica Simpson moments, but now I get paid for it!
4 I've heard your nickname at the station is Mamie Hula. How did that come about?
Ahhhh! I hate that! Please, no one call me that name. OK...last year at Beat Birthday Bash, CJ, KBUBB and I got corsets made for us and we had our names on it. Mine wasn't glued on very well. So I look down and see that the "C" has fallen off so it's now spelled "Mami Hula". Since then, my co-workers have just remixed it. I hate it...stop calling me that! I knew I was never going to live that down.
5. You've also made a name for yourself as a mixer and member of the Core DJs. How do you think that helps you as an air personality?
Being able to be on air and mixing is great. It adds something to the list someone else might not have. The Core DJ's and Tony Neal are the shit. He's one of the realest guys I have met in this game and to be apart of the Core family is a honor. But don't forget, I'm a Murda Mami and rep it just as hard. 1st Lady El...What's up? At the end of the day you have to do your own work but when your with a group that has respect then it gets passed to you.
6. Who do you consider to be your mentor(s)?
Well, Cagle has been there for years and has always had my back. Marsha Meadows, Machete X, and some of the people who gave me a chance like Jagged Edge, DJ Cowboy, Big Dino, Metro Boys, Biddy Cloud9, DJ Shakim.
7. If you had to compete on one TV reality show, which would it be?
The reality show I need to be on is the one that I can win a man and money. I love those two "m"s. I need both.
8. I've heard you have a nickname for Cagle. Care to reveal?
Ohhhh yeah, I have a few. One is "Lil Fu%*er". There's also "Midget Mac" and "Jerk Face". He has his for me so don't think, "damn that's crazy".
9. It's Saturday night at 11:55. Where in the ATL is Mami Chula?
On the way to go make money! In the club...please get your mind out of the gutter.
10 . What would you like to do better...tomorrow?
I'd like to not curse out the dumb asses that come my way. I'd like to kill 'em with kindness. Yeah, right.
Bonus Questions
How old are you? (thank Cagle)
It figures that Lil Fu*#er put you up to this question. You never ask a lady this!
