BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started at a college radio station, KCSB at UCSB.
1. What got you into radio?
It seemed natural. I've been DJing/mixing since the age of 12.
2. What is the most significant way your day-to-day duties as PD have changed in the last few years?
Well, the hours in the office are longer as I've taken on more duties.
3. Do you remember the moment that you began thinking about becoming a PD?
I think the day I stepped into a radio station, mixed for the first time and realized what a PD does, I was hooked on learning the radio biz.
4. What's the most important thing that you feel you can pass on to your staff at KPAT?
Passion and patience. Also an open mind will get you where you want to be.
5. How do you make KPAT stand out on the radio?
By keeping music imaging and promotions fresh and staying 100% involved in the community
6. Not that a PD has much spare time but what do you do with yours?
I spend it with my wife and kids. They are so very important to me.
7. The cost of living in California and its beach communities helps make the hiring process difficult for smaller market stations like yours. How do you combat it?
I try to hire local talent and teach them how to multi-task.
8. You end up "Lost" on a deserted island. You have 10 years worth of batteries for your CD player but only three CDs. Which CDs would you want to have?

9. What's been your most memorable radio moment? become a PD

You live in a vacation destination. Where do you like to go for your vacations?
I just like to be home and get some sleep. We don't get too much of that in this biz!
