1. What was your last non-radio job?
I was in retail. I was folding clothes. I don't even fold my own! They would say, use the folding board...LMAO it's a shirt!
2. Ocean City is a summer vacation hot spot. What's the best part of the winter months there?
The best part of the winter is that its easier to get from one place to another quicker cause all the tourists are gone but I'm a Ocean City summer beach bum. I love the crowds, the crabs, and of course, THE BEACH!! That's where I am all summer.
3. What's your favorite aspect of being on-air?
I love the morning show and the laughs. That's actually my fave. When people say we affected their lives and they love us every day and there's nothing else they listen to. I remember growing up listening to my favorite on air personalities like they listen to us.
4. What's the highlight of your radio career to date?
Coming back to OC104 and taking over mornings. Our last ratings book where mornings was the highest it's been in years. Definitely a great moment.
5. What's the first thing you do when you get in to do the morning show?
Jessica and I look at the news/entertainment sheets but the most important thing is talk about things in our own lives that happened over the weekend or the night before that we want to talk about on the air. People only care so much about the same entertainment stories over and over. They want to hear about your lives. I like to call it reality radio. That's what the Hip Hop Coffee Shop (our morning show) is. It's about us and our lives and culture.
6. We're into summer now. How does the summer season change the morning show?
I'm always hype about summer. I love it! The morning show is always poppin' but I guess with more going on in the resort and summer concerts, etc, we have more to talk about locally. But honestly, this area is turning into a year around town.
7. Who do you consider your mentor(s)?
Buck Wilde at WBHJ/Birmingham. I was his morning show producer/co-host when he worked on OC104 and he taught me everything I know....(crickets)...no seriously...(crickets)...no for real!
8. If you could have ANY guest co-host for one week, who would it be?
Jessica. I wouldn't trade her for anyone else. She's really strong on the air and we have great chemistry and I think we dominate on the air together.
9. A lot of areas have food specialties associated with them. What is the Ocean City area's specialty?
Hhmmmmm. I'd definitely have to say crabs. Maryland Blue Crabs and all seafood at that. You got to hit up Phillips Crab House if you come to the
area. Crab Alley's Cream of Crab soup if your in the area. Oh...can't forget Thrashers French Fries on the Boardwalk and Dumser's Ice Cream.
10. If you were to leave Radio today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
None...I couldn't do it. I once heard a big time personality say it's in your blood. And yes, radio is in my blood. Also, he said you either got it or you don't and I believe Jess and I have it, which is why we're #1 and do so well.
Bonus Questions
We just had a new American Idol champ crowned. Who would you like to see as the American Idol judge?
I don't know. How about me? Maybe it should be Diddy.
What's your favorite song on the station right now?
There's a lot of good music out right now. I'm definitely feelin' Usher - OMG, Big Boi - Shutterbug, B.O.B. - Airplanes. There are so many.
