BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
I started as an intern with Regent Broadcasting in Peoria IL in 2001 while still in college. My first fulltime position was with Regent on 98.5/101.1 The Party nights. I finish school and worked for AAA Entertainment on Power 92-3 and 96-5. I was hired back at Regent in 2004 to do middays on 105-7 the X as Sabrina. Regent purchased Power and I moved to our new sister station as night jock. Then moved up to middays and finally mornings where I am now and also APD/MD.
1. Why Radio?
Short funny story - Radio was one of those things I wanted to do before I had to "grow up." I guess it just stuck.
2. To date, what is the highlight of your radio career?
Running my own morning show. That is definitely not something that I thought I would ever do.
3. What's the best part of summer in Peoria?
Summer in Peoria...hmmm...lots of people might say boating on the river, but not me. I would prefer to cruise the streets in my Mustang convertible all summer then get in that river. Oh and the concerts, riverfront or otherwise. We get some great summer shows for outdoor concerts.
4. There aren't a lot of women hosting morning shows. What was your initial reaction to being asked to host the morning show at Power?
HECK NO! But that was my initial reaction. I am not a morning person and waking up at 4:30am every morning was not looking good to me. But after more than two years in the morning rush seat, I am blessed to be able to do what I love and still have my entire afternoon to do whatever I want! So, I guess you can say I'm cool with it now.
5. If you could pick a celebrity co-host for your show, who would you choose?
Wow! Tuffy...maybe Daniel Tosh. He is hilarious. I think he might be a little hard to control but it would definitely be an interesting show.
6. Do you have any radio idols? Did you have any prior to starting in the business?
Actually - I vividly remember calling KZ 93.3 with Gary Olsen in the Mornings here in Peoria (I think I just dated myself) and trying to make mix tapes from calling in. So, I would have to say Gary because he is the only one I remember listening to prior to being in the business. Now, I have met a lot of people I look up to that I have gotten to work with within Regent/Townsquare/AAA in past years. It's so hard to just pick one.
7. What's your favorite song on the station right now?
I would have to say Ne-Yo "Beautiful Monster".
8. If you were trapped on a deserted island and only had two DVDs and two CDs, which would you choose?
DVDs - Death Race and Super Troopers (or Grandma's Boy - that's a toss up) CD's - Lil Jon's "Crunk Rock" and Loud Rocks album - released in 2000 with various artists.
9. Do you consider yourself a daredevil type? Preference...skydiving or hang gliding?
Not really the daredevil type and I only say that because I have never been sky diving or hang gliding. Not a whole lot scares me and I would probably do both. I am not your typical girl. I like fast, old cars and motorcycles!
10. If you were to leave Radio and music today and you could choose any other occupation, what would it be?
I have dabbled in areas in the medical profession. I was an EMT when in college and I enjoyed it a lot. Medical Assistant if I HAD to pick another occupation.
Bonus Questions
Where do you go to get away from it all?
If I told you I would have to kill you...
