Bad Meets Evil
Aug 1, 2011
Bad Meets Evil is hip hop duo from Detroit, Michigan that consists of rappers Royce da 5'9" and Eminem. They are best known for collaborating on a self-titled song that appeared on Eminem's major-label debut album The Slim Shady LP in 1999, their early association with Dr. Dre and his label Aftermath Entertainment, and their hit EP Hell: The Sequel. After a brief spilt in early 2000 they are back with their new EP and hit single "Lighters".
The duo's newly released single "Lighters" featuring Bruno Mars, who is also a co-writer on the track, has been lighting up the charts. The song is an alternative hip hop song and is noted for being different in style from any other song on the EP. According to Eminem, Bad Meets Evil wanted to attempt something different and wanted to break the typical album format that other hip hop artists use. When the song leaked early in June 2011, it had already begun receiving opinions. Most critics made note of the alternative hip hop genre which was never used by Bad Meets Evil in previous singles or in Hell: The Sequel. "Lighters" was performed at the 2011 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival with hypeman Mr. Porter of D12.
