Trey Songz

While peers Frank Ocean and Drake have taken R&B to trippier and rappier places, respectively, Trey Songz continues to chart with more traditional baby-making jams, like "Say Aah" and the occasional ass-affirming anthem "Bottoms Up" (with Nicki Minaj). His debut album, I Gotta Make It, was released in 2005, while his second album, Trey Day, was released in 2007. His third album, Ready, was released in 2009 while his fourth studio album, Passion, Pain & Pleasure, was released on September 14, 2010.
Songz understandably wants to grow as time goes on, but he's also concerned about chasing after the wrong thing. Speaking of his forthcoming album "Chapter V" recently, Songz says "A mistake a lot of artists make is they go out and chase something that is not really home for us." Insisting he's comfortable with what he's achieved so far and the connection he has with fans, Songz hopes his music grows organically. "I'm comfortable with home. Yes, I want to grow, but I want to grow organically," says Songz.
On November 28, 2011, on his birthday, Songz released his Inevitable EP to prepare for the release of his album. In February 2012, Songz will embark on his Anticipation 2our to promote his mixtape Anticipation 2 and to raise awareness of his new album.
In related news, Trey Songz has been nominated for a BET Award. He joins Chris Brown, Usher, Miguel and Bruno Mars in the category for Best Male R&B Artist. The BET Awards 2012 air Sunday, July 1 on BET. Trey Songz's album, "Chapter V," is due later this year.
