According to a press release quoting label President Joie Manda, following an "intense bidding war," 25-year-old Atlanta rapper Trinidad James has signed with Def Jam Records. "We are thrilled to have him at the label, and look forward to growing his already massive buzz," Manda said. The deal includes a joint venture with James' Gold Gang Records.
His debut single, "All Gold Everything" has charted at 96 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It's from his debut mixtape, Don't Be S.A.F.E., released on October 16th. Like many other artists in the Hip-Hop industry, Trinidad James found his way to the mainstream audience via The Source Magazine's Unsigned Hype column.
Bad Boy Records' French Montana is joining the Trinidad James craze, hopping into the recording booth to remix the newly signed Def Jam rapper's "All Gold Everything" smash.
