Mt. Joy
Jun 29, 2020

Mt. Joy has its roots in Philadelphia, although they are now based in Los Angeles. The five-piece indie-folk band -- members Matt Quinn, Sam Cooper, Sotiris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau, and Michael Byrnes – released their eponymous debut in 2018 and have just released their second effort, Rearrange Us.
Produced by Tucker Martine, the songs on Rearrange Us were written during a period of personal struggle and romantic failures. In addition to “Strangers,” check out “Let Loose,” “Death,” “Witness,” “Bug Eyes” and the title track.
In a social post, the band said they would have liked to delay the release of their album after the news of death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests but were unable to.
"Listen to and amplify black voices, learn, protest peacefully, and put your money where your mouth is," Mt. Joy said in the social media post. "To that end, 100% of album profits from the first week will be donated to Campaign Zero, a nonprofit dedicated to ending police violence."
Mt. Joy were on the road with The Lumineers earlier this year until the CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) pandemic cut the tour short. They appeared on “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.” They are currently booked to perform at the Hinterland Music Festival in Saint Charles, IA in early August.
