Bob Schneider
Apr 18, 2011
Bob Schneider has always enjoyed pushing the limits and he's been at it since he was very young. Born in Ypsilanti, MI, he was raised in Munich, Germany. Schneider started his performing career as the drummer for his father's band. From there he formed his first band while attending the University of Maryland at Munich. But Schneider is also a gifted artist in other areas, so he packed his bags and headed to the States to attend the art program at the University of Texas, El Paso. But music kept calling him.
In the early '90s, Schneider moved to Austin to pursue a career in music. He has since had several bands - some of which have gone to the wayside and others that are still active. If you know Schneider, then you know he has many musical personas.
But the one we are dealing with right now is him standing front and center with his newest release, "A Perfect Day." Produced by Dwight A. Baker (who also worked with Schneider on "Lovely Creatures") this latest collection of tunes shows several sides to Schneider's talent, from the more commercially minded to the more fun side.
During the summer of 2010, Schneider and his friend accepted an invitation to cruise around Lake Travis near their home in Austin -- an afternoon that wound up inspiring the latest album.
"It was a beautiful day, really lovely on the lake," Schneider said. "He had his iPod plugged into the speakers on the boat and was playing some songs, and I was like, 'Oh, I'd love to have a CD that I could put in right now that would fit this mood.' That's where I got the idea to do this album. I wanted to make a CD where you could be hanging out on the lake on a beautiful day and put it in and you're never going to press skip. It's just the right music to play while you're hanging out and enjoying the day with your friends."
And that is exactly the vibe on "A Perfect Day." In addition to "Let The Light In," several other tracks from the album are already getting some attention including "Honeypot," "Everything Is Cool," "Everything You Love," "Penelope Cruz," "Dirt Mouth" and "Another Bad Idea."
