Steve Martin And Edie Brickell
Apr 7, 2013

Steve Martin is currently in the fifth decade of a varied and accomplished career as a comedian, actor, author and playwright, and as a Grammy-winning bluegrass banjoist and songwriter. What you may not know is he is originally from Texas. His partner in the Love Has Come For You project is Edie Brickell, who is also originally from Texas.
As you may recall, Brickell has done a number of collaborations over the past few years, but her new endeavor with Martin seems to be the most natural. Martin composed the music and Brickell provided the lyrics and the vocal melodies.
Produced by legendary musician and producer Peter Asher, the project also features Esperanza Spalding, Waddy Wachtel, Nickel Creek alumni Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins, as well as the Steep Canyon Rangers.
In addition to the to the title track, other standout songs include "When You Get To Asheville," "Get Along Stray Dog," "Friend Of Mine" and "Fighter."
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Brickell said the collaboration began when Martin sent her "a tune with no song to it. I was so thrilled that [Martin] kept sending tunes because they would arrive and there were little stories in them just immediately for me. I saw a lot of images and all I had to do was sit back and narrate what I saw."
