Rhye
May 12, 2013

The enigmatic duo known as Rhye came together in late 2010. What was only going to be collaboration on a remix of a song turned into mutual respect and a new project - Rhye - resulting in the lovely Woman. Recorded in both Copenhagen and Los Angeles, Mike Milosh and Robin Hannibal combine timeless and modern elements to create a sound which is passionate, intimate and intoxicating.
Mike Milosh was born in Toronto and is an electronic musician and vocalist. He is also a classically trained cellist. Dutchman Robin Hannibal was a member of the Danish duo Quadron before stepping out on his own.
With dreamy vocals, classical sensibilities, lush strings and simple electronic embellishment, Woman is an album you want to listen to over and over again. My favorite songs are "Open," "Last Dance," "Shed Some Blood" "3 Days" and the title track.
The impressive videos for "Open" (there are two versions) were directed Daniel Kragh-Jacobsen (watch them both here www.rhyemusic.com/tagged/official).
Rhye has been receiving tremendous press from both sides of the Atlantic. They did a North American showcase dates in April and May with more planned for the summer. They also showcased at SXSW in March.
Woman has been named by NPR and Stereogum as one of "2013 Most Anticipated Albums."
