Matt Nathanson
Jul 28, 2013

Singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson has been doing it the old-fashioned way for close to two decades now, constantly touring and continually broadening his loyal fan base from coast to coast. The press has always seen the talent in Nathanson, and over time he also enjoyed some significant airplay at Triple A (and other formats) across the country.
The new album was produced by Nathanson, along with Mike Viola and Jake Sinclair. It marks a dramatic progression for the artist, who has created a richer and deeper work both musically and lyrically than any of his previous efforts.
It is clear that on The Last Of The Great Pretenders the prevailing backdrop to Nathanson's inspiration is his beloved hometown of San Francisco. Nathanson also shares the songwriting duties with Viola, Sinclair and others on this project. "Mission Bells," the first single, is doing well at the format but several other tracks are also worth your attention including "Earthquake Weather," "Kill The Lights," "Kinks Shirt" and "Sunday New York Times."
"I like to think I spend most of my creative energy in specific situations, imagining what my life would be like with the girl in the Kinks shirt, that kind of idea."
Nathanson is gearing up for an extensive touring schedule this fall after a handful of date this summer.
