Over The Rhine

Karin Bergquist, who has one of the most amazing voices in popular music, and her husband, multi-instrumentalist Linford Detweiler, are a perfect creative team who write intelligent, probing songs and surround them with sophisticated arrangements.
From their early days with IRS Records to their efforts via Back Porch, OTR have taken inspiration from their Ohio roots (they're based in the Cincinnati area) and created music with universal insight. They became fully independent with the critically acclaimed The Trumpet Child and followed that with The Long Surrender.
The duo now returns with Meet Me At The End Of The World (their 15th album!). Again produced by Joe Henry, the team of Berquist and Detweiler is as inspired and creative as it has ever been. This time around they take a more stripped-down approach and offer up duet-style vocals.
The players who backed the duo for the sessions included Jay Bellerose, Eric Haywood, Jennifer Condas, Patrick Warren, Mark Goldenberg, David Piltch, Van Dyke Parks and Aimee Mann.
The songs that comprise Meet Me At The Edge Of The World were largely inspired by the atmosphere of the couple's rural Ohio home of the past eight years: a farmhouse built in 1833, amidst the rolling, tree-lined fields of rural Highland County.
The double album's 19 songs include such gens as "Sacred Ground," "Gonna Let My Soul Catch My Body," "Highland County," "Earthbound Love Song," "Baby If This Nowhere" and the title track.
"These songs all grew loosely out of the soil we live on," Detweiler said. "We had always dreamed of having a piece of unpaved earth which would serve as our home base, just like many other American artists or writers that are immediately associated with a specific geographical place. We call our place Nowhere Farm: nowhere, or now here, depending on how you look at it."
The band has been on the road for while which included an appearance on eTown and their performance at this year's Triple A Convention. They continue touring with dates already booked into the New Year.
