Lissie

Lissie Maurus hails from Rock Island, IL, but now calls Southern California home. She has become quite a sensation in the U.S., Europe and the U.K. over the past few years making a number of "Best of" lists in 2010 with her full-length debut album Catching a Tiger. That album has sold over 250,000 copies to date. She is now gearing up for the release of Back To Forever, produced by Garret "Jacknife" Lee.
In spite of the successful gains Lissie has made over the past few years she remains a down to earth; she is environmentally conscious, and enjoys hiking, reading and hanging with her family when she is not touring or recording.
On Back To Forever, Lissie's sound has matured a bit but her powerful voice is still front and center. She is also rockin' a bit more this time around, however, she continues to write songs with thought-provoking lyrics. In addition to the "Shameless" and "Further Away (Romance Police)," Lissie shows diversity with songs such as "The Habit," "Sleepwalking," "Mountaintop Removal," "Cold Fish' and "Can't Take It Back."
Lissie said of the new album in a recent interview, "I think that my writing has gotten better. With my first album I had just gotten out of a break-up and so I was really in that little world. That can be really powerful and raw, but with hindsight I think I can now write from a more well-rounded perspective. I can be more subjective. Also having played with a band for two years on the road it helped shape our sound, so I think this album has more of a band vibe."
Lissie has played several major festivals this year including SXSW, Hangout, Central Park, Bumbershoot and the upcoming Austin City Limits. After a run in Europe and the U.K, in October, she returns to dates in North America.
