Rosanne Cash
Jan 12, 2014

Rosanne Cash returns with The River & The Thread, her 15th studio effort. The journey for this project began when Arkansas State University contacted Cash about their interest in purchasing her father's boyhood home in Dyess, AK. While helping with the purchase and renovation of the Dyess house, Cash and her husband/co-writer/producer John Leventhal took several extended trips through the Southern states. These experiences have informed the new album.
Several guest artist appear on the album including Cory Chisel, Rodney Crowell, Amy Helm, Kris Kristofferson, Allison Moorer, John Prine, Derek Trucks, John Paul White, Tony Joe White and Gabe Witcher.
Many of the tracks off of The River & The Thread are keepers including "Modern Blue," "The Sunken Land," "A Feather's Not A Bird," "The Long Way Home," "Night School" and "50,000 Watts."
"I went back to where I was born, and these songs started arriving in me," says Cash. "All these things happened that made me feel a deeper connection to the South than I ever had. We started finding these great stories, and the melodies that went with those experiences."
Around the release of the album Cash will perform on "Late Show with David Letterman," NPR's "Morning Edition" will profile the album, and Cash will be doing an in-store performance and signing at the Barnes & Noble in New York's Union Square. Other release week activities include a special live hour-long broadcast on New York station WFUV, and appearances on NPR's "World Café," the syndicated show "Acoustic Café" and on "Imus in the Morning."
Further, she was recently at Troubadour in West Hollywood, and also recorded an Apogee Session for public radio station KCRW and for "Yahoo! Ram Country."
