The Wind And The Wave
Aug 10, 2014

Austin, Texas-based duo The Wind and The Wave are Dwight Baker and Patricia Lynn. The two met in 2009 when Baker, a touring musician turned songwriter and producer, was urged by his wife to go see a friend's band. Lynn's previous band was opening the show.
There was chemistry and they started working together. In 2012, the two started a writing group with a bunch of friends which eventually led to the formation of The Wind And The Wave, and some of those collaborative songs appear on their debut album, From The Wreckage.
The album was written and recorded at Baker's Matchbox Studios in Austin. In addition to the first single, "With Your Two Hands," check out "My Mama Said Be Careful Where You Lay Your Head," "From the Wreckage Build a Home," "It's a Longer Road to California Than I Thought," "Raising Hands Raising Hell Raise 'em High" and "Every Other Sunday Morning."
Baker said, "The songs were born of gut feelings and Patty writing about whatever came out. These are all her stories."
The Wind and The Wave supported Fun. and Bruce Springsteen at the NCAA March Madness Music Festival in Dallas. They re-recorded Simple Mind s "Don't You Forget About Me" and Cyndi Lauper's "Time after Time" specifically for ABC s "Grey s Anatomy." The band just wrapped up a series dates culminating with a performance at the Triple A Conference in Boulder.
