The Damnwells
Mar 29, 2015

The Damnwells formed in 2001 in Brooklyn, NY. Certainly lead singer-guitarist Alex Dezen plays a major role in The Damnwells, as he writes the majority of the songs (although they all share the song writing credits), but the other members of the band also play an important role in the creativity, especially bassist Ted Hudson.
In 2008, Dezen enrolled as an M.F.A. candidate at the University of Iowa, where he participated in the acclaimed Iowa Writers' Workshop; he finished his studies in 2010.
The band had parted ways for a while, but their new self-titled release features the four original members together again -- Dezen, Hudson, guitarist David Chernis and drummer Steve Terry. It was produced by Salim Nourallah and recorded at Tree Fort Studios in Austin.
Like their previous release, the band funded this new project via a pledge drive supported by fan base.
In the time since forming, the Damnwells sound has matured and this new album features the best collection of songs yet by the band. In addition to the focus track, "Lost," several other songs stand out including "Money And Shiny Things," "The Girl That's Not In Love You," "Kentexas," "None Of These Things" and "Heavy Heart."
Of the full band reunion, Dezen said, "I've had more profound experiences with these guys than anyone else in my life, other than my mom and sister, so there was a lot of reliving and catching up to do, which we did in spades."
The Damnwells hit the road again in early May.
