Lord Huron
May 31, 2015
Lord Huron is a musical and visual project created by Ben Schneider. Originally a solo effort, collaborators now include Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion) and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals).
Schneider studied art in college and lived in France and New York before moving to Los Angeles in 2005 to pursue a career in the visual arts. But music was also a big part of his life, eventually leading to the formation of Lord Huron (after taking a trip home to his native Michigan and spending some time at Lake Huron).
This led to the Mighty EP in 2010 and Lord Huron's album debut, Lonesome Dreams, in 2012. Lord Huron now returns with Strange Trails, which expands the band's sound in interesting directions.
In addition to the focus track, "Fool For Love," other standout tracks on Strange Trails include "Love Like Ghosts," "Dead Man's Hand," "La Belle Fleur Sauvage' and "The World Ender."
There is a strong visual element to the Lord Huron experience. Of this Scheinder said in a recent interview, "I kind of piece together scraps here and there, especially when I'm on the road. Then, when I get home, I try to piece them all together. But because of the way I like to write, it's working on the visuals simultaneously with the music, and it can happen in any order. It's just kind of piecing together lots of little scraps."
Lord Huron recently performed on Conan. After a series of dates in the U.K., they begin their North American tour in early July including stops at XPoNential Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Festival.
