Don Henley
Sep 27, 2015

What is there new to say about an artist with as legendary a career as Don Henley? Both as solo artist and as a member of the Eagles, he has received many accolades, including eight GRAMMY Awards, numerous gold and platinum records, and performed sold-out concert tours worldwide.
With Cass County, his first solo album in 15 years, we find Henley returning home and to all the influences that helped to form his famed career. Recorded primarily in Nashville and Dallas, Cass County was produced by Henley and Stan Lynch, who also co-wrote 11 of the songs on the album. It includes guest appearances by Merle Haggard, Miranda Lambert, Mick Jagger, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Jamey Johnson, Alison Krauss, Vince Gill and Dolly Parton.
Several tracks on Cass County are keepers including "Bramble Rose," "No Thank You," "Praying For Rain," "Waiting Tables," "Take A Picture Of This," "That Old Flame," "Words Can Break Your Heart" and "Train In The Distance."
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Henley said, "This is a natural progression. It's not me trying to do the 'Don Henley country album.'"
Henley was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and will receive the 2015 Kennedy Center honors later this year, as a member of the Eagles. He was just given the Trailblazer Award at this year's Americana Awards show in Nashville.
NPR Music premiered the album as a "First Listen" in the week leading up to its release. Henley recently performed on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." There will be a Target deluxe edition of the album which includes two exclusive tracks - Henley's duet with Stevie Nicks, "It Don't Matter To The Sun," and "Here Come Those Tears Again," which features harmony vocals by Vince Gill and Alison Krauss.
