Norah Jones
Oct 10, 2016
Norah Jones' sixth solo album, Day Breaks, is already being hailed by the press as "both a return to roots and a triumphant showcase of stylistic diversity." It certainly can be considered as a mate to her debut album, Come Away With Me, but also reveals the maturity and experience she has gained since first coming onto the scene.
Day Breaks features jazz luminaries including her Blue Note labelmates saxophonist Wayne Shorter, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith and drummer Brian Blade on a 12-song set that includes nine new originals alongside covers of songs by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington and Neil Young. Checkout out "Carry On," "Flipside," "Tragedy," "Don't Be Denied" and title track.
"This new album feels full circle because I'm going back to my early influences," says Jones. "After the first record, I drifted away from the piano a little bit. I still played it, but was more inspired to write on guitar. I really loved playing piano on this record."
Jones has appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and "The Today Show." She is just embarking on a tour of North America, the U.K. and Europe.
