My first job was board op for Walt Love Show on KBCE and Sunday Overnights at KBCE in Alexandria. Donnie Taylor, Denise Seals Thomas, Al Jai Wallace, Guy Broady, E. Rodney Jones and Peter Moncrief are all early influences.
I was trying to get a job writing copy for commercials while during the summer while attending Northwestern State University in Louisiana. Was there a defining moment, which made you realize "this is it"? My defining moment was my first day on the air at KTHT in Houston. From early on in my career it had been my goal to obtain a full time position in a major market, and it happened in Houston!
Yes!!!! I love radio, I love helping people!!!! I love music!!!! This is the best career anyone could have!!!!
I see myself moving to a bigger market to program (Houston, Phoenix, New York, Los Angeles, Miami or Dallas). It is my hope to stay within the Citadel Broadcasting Company because having the opportunity to be trained by people like Farid Suelman and Judy Ellis does not come everyday!!!! I love Citadel. They let programmers program!!!! I think radio will get back to personality!!!!!! Everything revolves in this business, and with the growth of brands like satellite radio, iPods and the internet, broadcast companies will need to be more effective at localizing their product.
Radio is always evolving like any other product. I am an optimist , so I have to believe that it is better in radio today than it was six months ago. In any type of business, the dawn of a new day brings new challenges, but by facing and overcoming the problems of yesterday, you are more prepared to handle the issues of today!!!
Keep God first in all you do and help others and your dreams will come to pass!!!!
The biggest adjustment for me was realizing that great leaders lead by example and create an environment that encourages excellence and creativity!!!
Time management.
Very well. The numbers speak for themselves!!!!!
I have no regrets. I only wish I would have started broadcasting at an earlier age!!
Continuing to grow our audience!
The worst piece of advice someone gave me was "You're Not Ready For Major Market Radio."
Fried Catfish and Shrimp Creole!!!!!
Pizza!
I read all the time! I like industry-related material, history books, newspapers and sports magazines. I would have to say industry periodicals are my favorite.
