Aretha Franklin

The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin will release her 38th studio album 'Aretha: Woman Falling out of Love' on May 3rd. The album has been in the works on-and-off since 2006, but is now finally set to be released independently via Aretha's own label imprint Aretha Records, and will be sold exclusively at Wal-Mart.
Lending his songwriting talents to Aretha's new disc will be R. Kelly, who recently helped take Whitney Houston's comeback album I Look to You to Platinum status. It's hard to pin point exactly who else will make the final cut for Woman Falling out of Love since Aretha has been recording it since 2006, but during the recording sessions she has collaborated with country singer Faith Hill on a duet, smash hit producer-songwriter Richard Marx, gospel singer Karen Clark-Sheard, Gospel/Soul singer-songwriter-producer BeBe Winans, and Gordon Chambers, who has previously written for Beyonce and Anita Baker.
"It's definitely going to take the boomers back ... but it's also contemporary with respect to other writers and production," Aretha says of the new album.
Besides preparing the release of her highly-delayed new album, the 68-year-old has also been exercising to get healthy and lose weight, after recovering from a 'mystery' operation last year. She's booked at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Buffalo, New York, on May 28th.
