Tamar Braxton-Herbert, still commonly known as Tamar Braxton, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and reality television personality. She rose to fame in the 1990s as a founding member of the R&B group, The Braxtons. The Braxtons released their debut album So Many Ways in 1996 along with four singles "So Many Ways", "Only Love", "The Boss" and "Slow Flow"
The Braxton children also would eventually enter in their church choir, where their father Michael Braxton was a pastor. Toni, Traci, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar Braxton signed their first record deal with Arista Records in 1989.
In September 2012, news broke that Tamar had recently inked a fresh recording contract with Interscope Records. Later that month, her television show Tamar & Vince premiered on WEtv. The show featured multiple scenes of Tamar recording her second album, including tracks called "Get Your Life," "My Love Is On Fire," "Take Me Higher," "Black Tears," "Hot Sugar," and the album's first single "Love & War." In December 2012 Braxton spoke on the album saying "I've been working really hard on this album to make sure it was up to my standards. Because in the past, I just felt like I've done music that was up to other people's standards. Everybody wanted me to sing songs like Toni. That's not the kind of artist that I am." adding "I really wanted to make sure that you get to see my sassiness, my fun-ness and, you know, me popping and dropping. I'm definitely doing that."
Tamar also guest starred along with her sister Trina on TV Land's new sitcom The Soul Man starring Cedric The Entertainer. Tamar was the featured model for the "Front Row Couture" collection during the "ELLE/Style360" NYC Fashion Week event.[26] Tamar will also co-host on Tameka Cottle's upcoming late night talk show Tiny Tonight. The show aired in December 2012 on VH1.
The youngest Braxton sister is holding her own on her hit single "Love & War." Tamar released the lead single Love and War from her upcoming second studio album of the same name on December 6, 2012. The song topped the iTunes charts, reaching number one in the United States. Tamar Braxton is set to release her album Love and War on March 2013 with upcoming single called "The One".
