BRIEF CAREER SYNOPSIS:
WERG/Penn State; WKPE/Cape Cod; KIMN/Denver; and WEQX.
1. How did you become interested in radio?
I think the first time I became interested in a career in radio, I was sitting around my college apartment listening to the radio. I said to myself, "You can do better than the schmuck who's on the radio!" So as a business major I snuck my way in to an air shift, got put in a morning slot and after that first crack of the mic...I was hooked!
2. What led you to WEQX a couple years ago?
Corporate radio (no offense corporate peeps) killed my passion for the music so I took a step away from it for a few years. I moved back east from Denver to be closer to family. That's when I began listening to 'EQX and the flame was reignited!
3. What part of your job do you like best? Least?
Best: The freedom.
Least: The complaints from listeners...no matter how many times I tell myself that "you can't please everyone," I still take it personally.
4. How would you describe your morning show?
Music intensive with some jackass/wise cracks in between.
5. What is most important to you when championing new music for the station?
First, I ask myself if I like the song. My instincts have yet to fail me. Then, is it a song that sounds like 'EQX, because we have a 27 year tradition and a certain sound. I don't ever want a listener to tune in and say, "Hey, what happened to 'EQX?"
6. How are you using Social Media?
The decision to use social media is not an easy one. I don't wanna come across as somebody who is buried in the blog scene, but I'm not an idiot...it exists and is a huge part of many "lives." So, I like to promote via social media, but limit topics. If all I'm doing is reading FB comments on the air, the art of the phone call will be lost.
7. What may surprise someone the most about WEQX?
We broadcast from a Victorian house in southern Vermont. The charm is second to none! The view ain't bad either.
8. Fill in the blank: I can't make it through the day without _________?
I gave up all of my horrible addictions years ago.
9. What do you like best about living in Vermont?
My life revolves not only around music, but also around hiking with my dog (who spends every morning with me in the studio) and snowboarding.
10. What would surprise people most about you?
I am color-blind and work with music master!
What are your hobbies?
I love to make up nicknames for people.
Last non-industry job?
Valet at a high-end resort (awesome money!)
First record ever purchased?
The Doors Greatest Hits

Favorite band of all-time?
