Wale Hits His Stride With Maybach Music/Atlantic Records Debut
By Matt Clizbe
If ever there was a rapper we wanted to sit down and chat with today, it would have to be Wale. He’s gearing up to release Maybach Music Group’s first album through its new deal with Atlantic Records, and we are expecting it to do big things for his career. As we discuss in our article Why Bad Looks So Good For Wale, it took him a lot of hard work to breakthrough, and now that he has, it doesn’t look like much is going to stop him.
He’s even showcasing the singing talent of newcomer Tiara Thomas on the single “Bad.” Thomas is signed to Wale’s Washington DC based marketing/management/ record company The Board Administration, or “BOA”. It’s too early to say for sure what role BOA will play in her career, but the site does say new music is coming. We’ll put her on the radar as we learn more, but we do know BOA does good work in breaking artists. When Wale originally had a harder time reaching audiences with his 2009 debut, they were credited with teaming him up with the social music-sharing site Hulkshare, to release a series of promotional mixtape tracks. Not only did it set the Maybach Music agenda for his 2011 Ambition album, but also created a demand so high that it crashed the site.
Right now, Wale’s story is one of an artist truly hitting his stride. He’s gone through years of hard work, and he looks primed to reach another a whole other level if he keeps it up. After all, the project following his The Gifted album is with Jerry Seinfeld. We think he deserves all the success he’s getting, and also think that you should think so too.
