ALL ACCESS tipped you JANUARY 1st (NET NEWS 1/1) that CUMULUS took no pause over the NEW YEAR'S weekend spinning the format wheel on '80s/'90s-focused AC WNNF (JOURNEY 94.1)/CINCINNATI and it stopped on Country as of NOON (ET) on NEW YEAR's DAY. It's called "94.1 GREAT COUNTRY."

CUMULUS SVP/Programming JAN JEFFRIES told ALL ACCESS, "At NOON TODAY, CINCINNATI gets a brand new radio station for the new year. GREAT COUNTRY 94-1 launches with 10,000 Country hits in a row!"

ALL ACCESS confirms that DALE O'BRIAN, most recently PD/mornings at CLEAR CHANNEL Hot AC WMXL (MIX 94.5)/LEXINGTON, has been officially tapped as PD of 94.1 GREAT COUNTRY. You can get to the new site here. 

And in BIRMINGHAM as champagne popped at MIDNIGHT (CT), Classic Rocker WZRR/BIRMINGHAM flipped to Top 40 as 99.5 THE VIBE, featuring 10,000 songs in a row. 

"A PD will be named, later," JEFFRIES noted, adding "The launch effort reunites Market Manager BILL THOMAS and me. BILL was my MD/midday talent when I was PD and on-air at legendary Top 40 WSGN in the mid- to late-'70s! We were both teenagers! And still act like it today. Two launches for the NEW YEAR -- and it's only JANUARY 1st." 

THOMAS added, "We knew that listeners wanted a choice for contemporary hits," taking a swipe at longtime CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WQEN (103.7 THE Q). The new site for 99.5 THE VIBE is not active yet, but you can hear the streaming, by clicking here. 

Also in BIRMINGHAM, CUMULUS Sports WJOX-A (690) will continue to simulcast Sports sister WJOX-F (94.5), which takes on the new moniker, THE FAN. 

There were staff displacements at WNNF and WZRR.
