Media Monitors: Rick Perry Bought Most Radio Ads In Des Moines, Omaha For Iowa Caucuses
Despite The Money Spent, Perry Finishes Fifth

MEDIA MONITORS' analysis of political ad spending in the DES MOINES and OMAHA markets for the IOWA Caucuses shows that RICK PERRY spent the most on radio in both markets.
In DES MOINES, PERRY bought 1,135 spots in DECEMBER, followed by RON PAUL at 419 spots, the RESTORE OUR FUTURE Super PAC campaign against NEWT GINGRICH finished third with 325 spots, and ultimate victor MITT ROMNEY was fourth at 258 ads. The anti-illegal-immigration NUMBERSUSA PAC followed with 164 ads and the WINNING OUR FUTURE -- NEWT GINGRICH group bought 96 ads.
In the OMAHA market (which serves the COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA area), PERRY led with 1,056 spots, followed by the anti-GINGRICH PAC with 278 ads, the pro-GINGRICH group in third with 62 ads, and RICK SANTORUM (who lost by 8 votes) in fourth with 20 spots. ROMNEY only bought 4 ads in the market.
MITT ROMNEY defeated RICK SANTORUM in the IOWA caucuses last night by just by eight votes. RON PAUL finished a close third, with NEWT GINGRICH 4th. TEXAS Gov. RICK PERRY placed 5th; he said late TUESDAY that he would return to his home state to consider whether his campaign would continue, but later tweeted that he will compete in SOUTH CAROLINA. Rep. MICHELLE BACHMANN has announced that she will end her quest for the Republican nomination.
