There have been countless "what would you do for tickets for the big game?" radio promotions, but CBS RADIO Sports KHTK-A (1140 THE FAN)/SACRAMENTO PD and syndicated morning man DON GERONIMO took that morning show staple to another level, with the show's call screener CRAIG HARLESS as the "beneficiary," in a manner of speaking: on FRIDAY morning's show, HARLESS submitted to a tattooing on his backside for tickets to the NFC Championship game at CANDLESTICK PARK SUNDAY.
Worse, he let GERONIMO decide on the design, and after other ideas were considered and rejected (one being a quote from the movie "American Psycho," "Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it"), GERONIMO settled on the "BILL WALSH Coaching Tree," the late legendary 49ERS and STANFORD coach's name as a "tramp stamp" above HARLESS' butt crack and the names of the coaches who worked under WALSH -- STEVE MARIUCCI, JON GRUDEN, MIKE HOLMGREN, DENNIS GREEN, GEORGE SEIFERT, BRIAN BILLICK, MIKE SHANAHAN, and ANDY REID -- down each cheek.
The tattooing by SHANE and MIKE from SACRAMENTO's BLACK ROSE tattoo parlor was aired on FRIDAY's show and ran over into sidekick CARMICHAEL DAVE's solo show, taking five hours in total. GERONIMO even tried a little tattooing of his own, resulting in a misplaced dot over the second "e" in SEIFERT's name due to poor aim.
For his troubles, HARLESS (known on the show as "CRAIG THE INTERN," although he has graduated to paid status) received two tickets to see the 49ERS lose to the NEW YORK GIANTS in overtime on LAWRENCE TYNES' field goal.
