Another College Sells Off Its FM License

Add THE REED INSTITUTE to the list of educational institutions selling their radio stations. REED (better known as liberal arts institution REED COLLEGE) is transferring noncommercial Variety KRRC/PORTLAND to COMMON FREQUENCY, INC. for no consideration. The college moved its programming to online-only in NOVEMBER.
In other filings with the FCC, JEM BROADCASTING CO., INC. is selling the construction permit for a new FM at GREENLAND, AR to JAY BUNYARD's HOG RADIO, INC. for $1,050,000. The same parties are involved in a previously-filed deal that will now be terminated, in which BUNYARD's OUACHITA BROADCASTING, INC. was to sell Gospel KENA-A/FORT SMITH, AR to JEM-affiliated M AND M MEDIA LLC. for $70,000.
ROCKET RADIO CORP. has applied for an extension of its Silent STA for FM translator K258BY/TORTILLA FLAT, AZ due to a delay in its ability to respond to a challenge to the station's operation. The company also applied for an extension of the Silent STA for K248BW/TUBA CITY, AZ due to technical problems.
FAMILY LIFE BROADCASTING, INC. has applied for an extension for its Silent STA for FM translator K272DC/ORO VALLEY, AZ while awaiting Mexican government approval of its proposed move and other technical changes. The changes are intended to allow the translator to serve as a rebroadcaster for sister Religion KFLT-A/TUCSON.
PACIFIC BEACH FOOD BANK has applied to transfer low power FM KXPB-LP/PACIFIC BEACH, WA to M.A.A.P. FOUNDATION for no consideration. The move follows the food bank losing its place of operation.
PACIFIC EMPIRE RADIO CORP. has closed on the sale of Hot AC KGTM (STAR 98) and silent KRXK-A/REXBURG, ID and AC KBJX (EZ ROCK 106.3)/SHELLEY, ID to RICH BROADCASTING's RJ BROADCASTING LS, LLC, headed by RICHARD MECHAM, for $1.1 million. KALIL AND CO. was the exclusive broker for the deal.
And in a deal yet to be filed with the Commission, DON TLAPEK's RADIO PARTNERS, LLC is buying an FM construction permit, 970911MV, licensed to STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO, from KELLY RAMSEY's RAMSEY LEASING for $125,000. BILL WHITLEY of MEDIA SERVICES GROUP served as the exclusive broker for the deal.
