CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WXXL (XL 106.7)/ORLANDO PD and Digital PD for CC/ORLANDO MICHAEL BRYAN has been tapped as CLEAR CHANNEL/NASHVILLE's OM, replacing RICH DAVIS who joined KDWB/MINNEAPOLIS as PD late last year (NET NEWS 12/27/11).
In NASHVILLE, BRYAN will oversee Country WSIX (THE BIG 98), Top 40 WRVW (107.5 THE RIVER), Urban WUBT (101.1 THE BEAT), Classic Rocker WNRQ (THE ROCK 105.9), and Talker WLAC-A. BRYAN begins those new duties immediately while retaining his duties in ORLANDO until a replacement is named.
Commenting to ALL ACCESS, CC/NASHVILLE VP/Market Mgr. DAN ENDOM said, "I am thrilled that MICHAEL will be joining us to lead our programming and digital teams. Based on his track record of success and his bright vision for the CLEAR CHANNEL/NASHVILLE brands, he was the ideal choice. He will make an outstanding partner and will undoubtedly help take us to new heights."
CLEAR CHANNEL/ORLANDO OM CHRIS KAMPMEIER told ALL ACCESS, "MICHAEL's extraordinary success driving ratings growth on XL1067 and digital growth across all our ORLANDO properties has been a joy to watch. His unique skill set and terrific leadership qualities will serve him well as he takes on his first OM gig. Now I need a PD for XL, an afternoon-driver for XL and a Digital leader for the cluster. Interested candidates should forward their stuff to hiremexl@gmail.com."
BRYAN told ALL ACCESS, "I can't imagine a greater honor than being chosen to return to my home state of TENNESSEE to lead the programming team at this cluster of iconic radio stations in THE MUSIC CITY! I literally grew up loving THE BIG 98 and THE RIVER making special trips to NASHVILLE with my dad just to listen to these big league stations.
"My sincere thanks to DAN ENDOM, HARTLEY ATKINS and BRAD HARDIN for believing in me and helping make this lifelong dream a reality for me, my wife RACHEL and our girls. NASHVILLE is truly a special city and I can't wait to get started!
Reflecting on his time in ORLANDO, BRYAN added, "The past five years have been the best of my career by far. The staff of XL1067 and CC/ORLANDO are some of the most competitive and brightest professionals you'll find in this business. I can't say enough about LINDA BYRD and CHRIS KAMPMEIER for the opportunity to program one of the greatest Top 40 radio stations in AMERICA and lead one of CC's highest performing clusters in the digital arena.
"Also thank you to CLAY HUNNICUTT and TOM SCHURR for supporting our mission in ORLANDO and allowing me to grow in the company. I will dearly miss my team and wish them nothing but the best. The next person to occupy this seat is in for an incredible ride! There is no stopping Team XL.
"And, one more thing ... GO VOLS!!!"
This move to NASHVILLE puts a cap on a successful five-year run in ORLANDO. BRYAN has had previous stops as PD at ENTERCOM Top 40/Rhythmic WNVZ (Z104/NORFOLK), APD at ENTERCOM Top 40 WEZB (B97)/NEW ORLEANS, and PD at ENTERCOM Adult Hit WSMW (98.7 SIMON)/GREENSBORO and its predecessor WOZN (THE ZONE).
