"American Idol" finalist ADAM LAMBERT has announced that he will tour as the lead singer for QUEEN this year, ROLLING STONE reports. The last singer to succeed the late FREDDIE MERCURY on a QUEEN tour was BAD COMPANY's PAUL RODGERS.
"The intention is to pay tribute to FREDDIE and the band by singing some [effin'] great songs," LAMBERT said. "It's to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that FREDDIE would've been proud of."
LAMBERT previously performed with surviving QUEEN members BRIAN MAY and ROGER TAYLOR during his "Idol" finals appearance in 2009, as well as the MTV EMAs in BELFAST last NOVEMBER.
