Are the NEW YORK METS about to make former TEXAS RANGERS announcer JOSH LEWIN's addition to the radio booth alongside HOWIE ROSE on CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK official? LEWIN's present employer, CBS RADIO Sports KRLD-F (105.3 THE FAN)/DALLAS, where he has co-hosted middays for 16 months, posted an article announcing the move earlier in the day, but has since taken the post off its website. Meanwhile, MIKE SILVA of NY BASEBALL DIGEST tweeted TODAY that "LEWIN confirmed he accepted METS offer."
LEWIN, whose move to the METS has been rumored for much of the off-season (NET NEWS 1/18), is presently the play-by-play voice of the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS on CLEAR CHANNEL Active Rock KIOZ (ROCK 105.3) and Sports KLSD-A (XTRA SPORTS 1360)/SAN DIEGO as well as a host on DALLAS' FAN and one of FOX's baseball play-by-play voices. Before his 2002-2010 stint as the RANGERS' television voice, he called BALTIMORE ORIOLES and CHICAGO CUBS games and ROCHESTER RED WINGS minor league baseball. If and when LEWIN is officially part of the METS broadcast team, he will be replacing WAYNE HAGIN, whose contract was not renewed.
