Whitney Houston Has Passed Away

The world is saddened and shocked about the passing of superstar WHITNEY HOUSTON (2/11) at age 48.

The cause of her death has not been disclosed, and an autopsy has been scheduled.  However police indicate that there was no foul play at hand.  Paramedics were unable to revive HOUSTON when they were called to her room at the BEVERLY HILTON HOTEL, the scene of LAST NIGHT's CLIVE DAVIS pre-GRAMMY PARTY (2/11), where HOUSTON was to have attended as a guest.

HOUSTON's passing was especially hard on DAVIS who was her mentor, and longtime friend.  DAVIS dedicated his pre-GRAMMY party to WHITNEY.

MTV.COM reported: "By now, sadly, we've all learned of the unspeakable [tragedy] of our beloved WHITNEY's passing," DAVIS said, visibly shaken. "I don't have to mask my emotions, not in front of this room filled with so many dear friends. I am personally devastated. WHITNEY was so full of life ... she was a beautiful person with talent beyond compare. She graced the stage with a regal presence ... and her family asked that the show go on."

DAVIS asked for moment of silence to honor HOUSTON's memory, announcing that the event would be dedicated to HOUSTON and then said, And now, on with the music."

According to the ASSOCIATED PRESS, "At her peak in the 1980s and `90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists.

"Among her hits were 'How Will I Know,' 'Saving All My Love for You' and 'I Will Always Love You.' She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.

"Her success carried her beyond music to movies like 'The Bodyguard.'"

HOUSTON has had a history of drug use and it took its toll on her career.

Bobbi Kristina Taken To Hospital

Meanwhile, this morning (2/12),WHITNEY's only daughter, BOBBI KRISTINA, was rushed to CEDARS SINAI hospital as precautionary measure, as she was suffering from severe anxiety, reports ABC NEWS.  Word is that she's awake and alert.
