Josh Lewin Officially Announced As New Mets Radio Voice
February 14, 2012 at 7:39 AM (PT)
The rumors started in JANUARY (NET NEWS 1/18) and news leaked out last week (NET NEWS 2/8), but, finally, the NEW YORK METS and flagship Sports WFAN-A/NEW YORK made official TODAY the news that JOSH LEWIN will be joining the team's radio crew alongside HOWIE ROSE for the 2012 season.
LEWIN, the former TEXAS RANGERS radio voice, has been co-hosting middays at CBS RADIO Sports KRLD-F (105.3 THE FAN)/DALLAS for the last 16 months; that station announced last week that LEWIN had taken the METS job, but the METS did not confirm that news until a press release this morning. LEWIN will continue as the play-by-play voice of the SAN DIEGO CHARGERS on CLEAR CHANNEL Active Rock KIOZ (ROCK 105.3) and Sports KLSD-A (XTRA SPORTS 1360)/SAN DIEGO
"It's exciting to be part of the METS' broadcast team with HOWIE ROSE, who is one of the best in the business," LEWIN said. "It's a thrill to be able to come back to my roots in NEW YORK and call games for the team I rooted for as a kid on the pre-eminent sports talk radio station in the country."
"JOSH brings extensive experience and knowledge to the broadcasts and is a tremendous addition to the METS' radio booth," said CBS RADIO NEW YORK VP Programming and WFAN OM MARK CHERNOFF.
"Our exceptional radio broadcasts have long been a point of tradition and pride for METS fans," said METS EVP/Business Operations DAVE HOWARD. "We are confident JOSH will be a welcome addition to that tradition."
