The pro-NEWT GINGRICH "WINNING OUR FUTURE SUPER PAC" organization has purchased spots on PREMIERE NETWORKS' RUSH LIMBAUGH and SEAN HANNITY shows and CUMULUS MEDIA NETWORKS' MARK LEVIN show indirectly targeting MITT ROMNEY through an attack on the "Republican establishment telling you to hold our nose and vote for their moderate candidates."
The NEW YORK TIMES reports that the ads, linking ROMNEY to past losing presidential candidates BOB DOLE and JOHN MCCAIN, will air on the shows starting THURSDAY through "Suoer TUESDAY," MARCH 6th. The PAC would not tell the TIMES how much the ads cost, although senior adviser RICK TYLER called the ads a "major" expense.
Meanwhile, the pro-ROMNEY "RESTORE OUR FUTURE SUPER PAC" has launched a major ad campaign of its own on radio and television in eight states with upcoming primaries. CBS NEWS reports that the PAC has spent $1.5 million on ads, with the current blitz running through MONDAY and increased spending in the eight states planned through the primaries. About half of the money has gone to TV ads in MICHIGAN and ARIZONA, with an additional $600,000 aimed at OHIO, TENNESSEE, OKLAHOMA, and GEORGIA, all Super TUESDAY states. The PAC is not buying ads in states considered safe for ROMNEY, including MASSACHUSETTS, VERMONT and VIRGINIA, and has not yet committed ad funds to WASHINGTON state, ALASKA, IDAHO and NORTH DAKOTA.
