ST. BONAVENTURE UNIVERSITY has been fined $7,000 for a late license renewal application and subsequent unauthorized operation at noncommercial WSBU (88.3 THE BUZZ)/ST. BONAVENTURE, NY.
The station's license expired on JUNE 1st, 2006 without an application being filed. After getting a license expiration letter from the Commission, the station filed a renewal application and STA request, which was granted on OCTOBER 13th, 2010. The college contended that it had not gotten written notice of the pending expiration, the station is largely student-run with a yearly staff turnover, and that the failure to file was inadvertent, but the Commission rejected those arguments.
