February 29, 2012 at 8:36 AM (PT)
CUMULUS has launched "GREAT COUNTRY" at two of their outlets. Top 40 WKOS/JOHNSON CITY, TN flipped to Country on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, as “GREAT COUNTRY 104.9.” CUMULUS Country Format Captain GREG FREY tells ALL ACCESS that PD JB STONE will remain with the station, as they launch jockless with 10,000 songs in a row. Eventually the station will be live and local, and is looking for air-talent.
Concurrently, CUMULUS Country WSJR/WILKES BARRE, PA, which was using the moniker JUNIOR 93.7, and was formerly using the 24/7 format from CITADEL, “TODAY’S COUNTRY,” will now adopt the CUMULUS brand as “GREAT COUNTRY 93.7.” WSJR is also launching with 10,000 songs in a row, but is looking for staff, including a PD. FREY tells us that the new PD will also do an air-shift.
