Former MONKEES lead singer DAVY JONES has died of a heart attack, TMZ reports. He was 66 years old.
The medical examiner's office for MARTIN COUNTY, FL told TMZ that it received a call from MARTIN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL informing them of JONES' passing.
JONES reportedly looked fine during his last performance, which was on FEBRUARY 19th in OKLAHOMA, one night after he performed at BB KING's in NEW YORK CITY. He is survived by his wife JESSICA and four daughters from previous marriages.
"I am in a state of shock," fellow MONKEE MICKY DOLENZ said. "DAVY and I grew up together and shared in the unique success of what became THE MONKEES phenomena. The time we worked together and had together is something I'll never forget. He was the brother I never had and this leaves a gigantic hole in my heart. The memories have and will last a lifetime. My condolences go out to his family."
